Individualised Living Options (ILO)

ILO is a relatively new NDIS support that helps people with a disability live in a home of their choice with support.

You can choose how you want to live, where you live, and who you live with.

ILO doesn’t provide the house or dwelling itself, it is a flexible package of supports in your home which are just right for you.

With ILO you have complete control of who you live with.

Here are just some of the choices available:

Host arrangement

You can live with a person or family who you are not related to. They will provide you with support and safe and welcoming home. Some of the costs may be covered by your NDIS Plan.

Housemates

You can live with other people (housemates) who will provide you with care, help and companionship. Your housemates may receive a payment or subsidised rent.

Mentors

You can live in a home where you have a small team of paid mentors that you have chosen. These mentors spend extended periods of time providing direct and indirect support.

ILO is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Living in your NDIS plan.

The NDIS does not fund the cost of the property itself, rent, board, transport, and other day-to-day expenses such as food and activities.
